MOM Beta Webcasts for Mobile 5

It's disappointing that webcasts wont play with Video on a Mobile 5 Smartphone be default. Finally, my desire for meaningful activity during the daily commute spurred me to convert them to a suitable mobile-friendly equivalent. In the event anyone wants to duplicate this effort, I thought I would share the tidbits that might save some time for all.

After grappling with Movie Maker 2 and several 3rd party conversion tools, I found a gem in "Pocket Movie Master" from TNTSoft.com. An output format of 320+240 full screen was just right for a Sprint PPC-6700. Couple this with
  • A storage card for your phone (a 1GB SANDisk works nicely in mine)
  • Media Player 11 beta, which will recognize the phone/card combo as a player and allow easy synchronization,  and
  • ActiveSync 4.2, a free download from MS (4.0 would not recognize the storage card)
I've found that a 6mb webcast is about 20mb, give or take 2mb, after conversion.
