The partner Airlift for Operations Manager 2007 kicked off this week, and information on the future direction of System Center is being revealed. Notable bits thus far: - Operations Manager 2007 will RTM on the Microsoft Management Summit in San Diego in the last week of March. Given the issues in betas and the first RC, pushing back RTM appears a prudent decision.
- System Center Virtual Machine Manager is slated to RTM at the end of Q3 '07
- Service Desk will have a public beta by end of Q1 '07
- Service Provider Scenario - Microsoft will bring focus to Remote Managed Services and will deliver a framework to partners to manage client environments smaller than 500 clients as a "hosted solution". This has been tagged the "Value Added Provider" scenario in the marketing flash and whitepaper. We've yet to see any technical information here though
- The marketing machine is moving – MS will launch a $30 million ad campaign dubbed "Designed for Big". Check back on the website in progress http://designedforbig.com
