Monitoring Distributed Applications in OM 2007

If you're not familiar with the Distibuted Application Monitoring functionality in Operations Manager 2007, take 5 minutes and watch Justin Incarnato's walkthrough on how to define a line of business (LOB) application. The Distributed Application Designer creates a service that is a high level health indicator of your distributed application. It also creates monitors, views, rules and reports necessary to monitor your distributed application and it's individual components that comprise it. I think little bits of targeted guidance on admin tasks go a long way in assisting admins in truly understanding the full scope of functionality of the new platform. I for one will be encouraging Justin and friends to repeat this effort on a number of topics in Operations Manager 2007.
