Self-Service Notification in OpsMgr 2007

You may be aware the the notification engine has been completely retooled for OpsMgr 2007, including such enhancements as:

-Alert aging (called escalation in our MOM 2005 feature requests)
-Additional notification channels, such as instant messaging and SMS (default format of which is nice for mobile devices)
-Messaging format customization at the user level
-Ability to configure multiple SMTP servers for redundancy

Notice many of improvement were features we cried for in MOM 2005? Someone at MS was listening...

but did you know, the new Ops Mgr has a self-service notification subscription feature for non-administrators? Assuming you as an administrator have configured at least one notification channel, the operator will have the ability to configure their own recipient object and notification subscriptions.

These options can be located as follows:
  1. Open the Operations Console as an operator (using Run As to launch the console and providing operator credentials)
  2. Click on the 'My Workspace' button in the Navigation pane.
  3. On the Tools menu, you'll then see 'My Recipient Information' and 'My Notifications'

Operators must of course configure their recipient object before creating any subscriptions.

Here's a screenshot of the self-service options:
